Papa Stan

Happy Birthday Papa Stan!

This is Aaron's grandpa, Stan. Our kids call him Papa Stan. We celebrated Stan's 85th birthday today with family. In a few weeks, Stan and his bride, Shirley, will celebrate 63 years of marriage.

This photo was taken last July at a family picnic in The Dalles. Stan and Shirley have 3 children, all married and have stayed married. From their 3 children and their spouses they have had 7 grandchildren. Those 7 grandchildren have produced 12 grandchildren...and counting!

Stan is amazing. He loves The Lord and has a gentle spirit. He loves to watch his great grandchildren play. He has scored a hole in one at golf. He worked as a grocer for most of his life. He served in the Navy in WWII. The moment he saw Shirley, he knew he would marry her. He and Shirley have been able to spend many vacations together in Hawaii and beyond. The first time I met Stan, he told Aaron, "Don't let this one get away!" It has been a joy to see our kids have a relationship with Papa Stan. What a great way to look back at 85 years! He is a great man and we are so blessed to have him as part of our family.
