A Fresh Snow

We woke up to this scene this morning. The first snowfall of 2009.

Taking advantage of the last few days of vacation, Aaron and I were up late watching some recorded shows and when we went to bed it was snowing big, wet flakes. We laughed and said it wouldn't stick as the ground is so saturated with water from melting snow and constant rain. However, it certainly stuck. It's nothing compared to the two feet of snow we had just one week ago, but it is more than just a dusting of snow. It is a bit funny to think we are hardly phased by this when normally we would be so excited about this amount of snow and the fact that we even got snow at all!

I was talking with a friend on how the recent, record breaking snow was inconvenient and now we have days and days of school to make up, but the snow is so beautiful when it first falls. It doesn't come very often and it goes away so fast. Everything looks so peaceful after a fresh snow; before the footprints, before the cars drive on it and turn it brown and you notice every small place the snow lands and leaves it mark. This snow will melt away today, but we'll sit and drink coffee, relax on these last few days of vacation and enjoy the beauty of it.
