Cute Headbands, Great Cause

I've had a few people comment on Ellie's cute headbands and I have to give credit where credit is due because the headbands are a labor of love of friend of mine. I met Erika Cox last year when her sweet Emma was in my class. During the school year, Erika found out that her youngest daughter, Charlotte (2 years old at the time), had juvenile rheumatoid arthritis (JRA). As the months went on and more tests were conducted, they found that Charlotte's biggest battle was uveitis (pronounced you-vee-eye-tis) arthritis in the eyes.

Erika is a passionate person about all things, but when it came to this disease she put forth her full energy. Amongst the many things Erika is doing for JRA research, she makes these beautiful headbands and lovingly calls them "Tottie's Pretties". Tottie is Charlotte's nickname. The price for each headband is $10 and Erika donates 50% to C.A.R.R.A. a research group for juvenile rheumatoid arthritis (JRA). Read their family story by visiting their blog here.

Ellie did not particularly love having her done until she received her first headband from Erika as an end-of-the-year gift for me; this lovely little number in Oregon Duck green and yellow. Erika also gave us the pony tail holder with the pretty fuchsia flower.

As you can tell, it really didn't matter to Ellie if what she wearing matched her headband or not or if her hair was even combed! I called Erika and told her we were in need of more headbands - in a bad way.

Here are the three we bought for summer and Ellie wore them almost every day. Pink and blue matched with almost everything and I thought her hair looked great, with a pony or down as long as she had a headband. I couldn't resist the neutral cream flower with navy band, too. Don't you just love how she shows off that toothless grin!
