One of the events of the Portland Rose Festival this year was a Memorial Day celebration. We decided to check it out, after all it was free and surprisingly not raining! It was a natural way to talk to the kids about the reason for Memorial Day while we saw lots of men and women in uniform. Some of the highlights were:
- The 1,000 flag memorial
- Veteran parade
- Portland Police Boat shooting red, white and blue water
- Amazing Grace on bagpipes
- 21 gun salute
- 2 F15s flyover
- The Marines letting Ellie and Easton hang from the bar + receiving dog tags
Good family time and a moment to be thankful for those who have sacrificed for our country.
