Opening Day of Soccer Season

We couldn't have asked for a better opening day of soccer season. The weather forecast was for a high of 90 degrees! Ellie played early and Easton later in the day. It was a great day to be outside and enjoy watching the kids.

This year Ellie plays on a bigger field, more girls on her team, longer halves and they get a goalie. She gets to practice twice a week and has the same coach and many of the same girls she has played with for the 2 previous seasons. We noticed she improved her speed from last year and seemed a bit more aggressive. However, we don't think goalie is going to be Ellie's favorite position! She allowed a few goals and got a little down, but she gave it a shot. I wonder if she remembered the goalie can actually touch the ball instead of just kick it? She bounced back quickly and got back into the game once it was her turn back on the field.

This year Easton gets his long awaited turn to play a sport! After waiting and watching Ellie play a few seasons, Easton gets to play soccer on a co-ed team, but the icing on the cake is Dad is the coach! It was so much fun to watch him run his heart out today in the heat of the day. He seemed to really have fun and he scored quite a few goals. The games are so fun with the little guys and only two 15 minute halves.

  • I just love this picture near the end of the game! Red hot face and he is strutting along!
