We almost bypassed the Fair this year because it is expensive. We ended up going and we were so glad we did. The weather was about perfect. We got to view a new show at the fair called Dock Dogs. They have dogs jump off a dock and jump into water to see how far they can jump. You can only imagine how thrilled Ellie was! They also had Tuff Trucks (a small version of Monster Trucks) and since it was free, we gave it a try. It was actually a lot of fun and although Ellie got bored an hour into it, Aaron and Easton stayed to watch it. The kids each did a ride and we overinduldged in fair food; the whole reason for going to the fair.
The kids are still young enough that they don't mind walking through the exhibit hall. They had tractors to sit on and the model trains. Easton spotted the Thomas Trains and was really sad when we had to move on.
Ellie's favorite - the dogs. She loved these because they look like the dogs, Paige and Kylie, at her daycare.

We, too went to the fair and had a very similar experience! Calvin loved the Dock Dogs, but we missed it the last night so he was bummed. He wouldn't sit through the trucks though. They were too loud and scared him (my sensitive little man). He loved the exhibit hall with all the stuff to look at -- especially the trains!
Sounds like you guys had fun.
